🌻 Aston Clinton Allotments – Summer Show 2025 Winners!
Posted on 17th September 2025
We are delighted to announce the results of this year’s Aston Clinton Allotments Summer Show Competition! Despite one of the hottest and driest summers not to mention some pesky badgers helping themselves to the sweetcorn, our plot holders rose to the challenge with determination, creativity, and care. The judges were hugely impressed with the effort and results on display.
🌿 Best Newcomer Allotments 2025 🌿
🥇 1st Place: Allotment 9
🥈 2nd Place: Allotment 1
🥉 3rd Place: Allotment 45a
👏 A special mention to our newcomers, who faced the toughest task of all bringing previously unused plots back into cultivation. Each winner took a clever approach by tackling part of their allotment while keeping weeds at bay with fabric. All three plots are very much works in progress, and the judges are excited to see how they develop in 2026!
🌱 Best Kept Allotments 2025 🌱
🥇 1st Place: Allotment 5
🥈 2nd Place: Allotment 40
🥉 3rd Place: Allotment 31
🌼 The judges’ feedback:
- Allotment 5 – A real showcase allotment, with fruit, herbs, vegetables, a bug hotel, bunting, decorative scarecrows, and a beautifully tidy layout. Truly welcoming and full of variety.
- Allotment 40 – Remarkably abundant despite the dry summer, with outstanding tomatoes, runner beans, and an excellent asparagus patch. The “giant sunflower” was unforgettable!
- Allotment 31 – Highly productive with fantastic tomatoes, a wide range of fruit and vegetables, including sweet potatoes, and creative recycling on display.
🎉 Congratulations to all our winners and well done to every plot holder for persevering through such tough conditions this season. The effort, care, and creativity that went into every plot was clear to see and very much appreciated.
A big thank you once again to the Aston Clinton, Buckland & Drayton Beauchamp Horticultural Society for kindly judging this year’s competition.

Grow to Give Weight in for 2024!
Posted on 7th January 2025
We wanted to share some very important news with you all from Justine at Grow to Give regarding the final weigh in for Aston Clinton Parish Council donations to The Aylesbury Vineyard Storehouse food bank for 2024! As you may be aware we have had a donation box set up in our allotments by the allotment shed usually from from June until the end of October for tenants to donate any excess vegetables to their local foodbank. We are very thankful to everyone that donated this year and to our lovely allotment champions who have been amazing and set up a weekly rota to kindly bring your donations to Aylesbury Vineyard this year. If you are interested in becoming a champion and would like to find out more please email the allotment administrator admin@astonclinton.org
Please see message from Justine at Grow to Give to our tenants -
Thanks for everything you've done this year in donating food through Grow to Give. We thought you’d like to know that your allotment has collected 136kgs of fresh fruit and veg for The Aylesbury Vineyard Storehouse this year. This is an amazing achievement and wouldn’t be possible without your support. Overall we collected just under 2500kgs from all our allotments across Buckinghamshire, which given the difficult growing season, was a great result. Please also share this news with all your growers, who’ve so generously donated their surplus crops. We’ll be in touch in the New Year, but in the meantime just wanted to say thanks and we hope you have a good festive break.

This noticeboard will serve as a hub for keeping you updated with the latest allotment news from the Council and provides a space for tenants to share information about social events, available equipment, or any other topics of interest to our community. Please remember to post respectfully, as any inappropriate content will be removed. Additionally, note that the noticeboard opens from the bottom upwards, please watch your head when accessing it and close it carefully afterward. We hope this new addition helps create a more connected and vibrant community!
To showcase the history of our allotments we have created a historic gallery below. If any tenants would like to share photos with the office of special moments or their plants or gardens or of allotment social gatherings, please feel free to contact the office so we can continue celebrating the wonderful work happening in our Allotment Community.
